You may have noticed pro teams have chiropractors on the sidelines at games. Many pro athletes like Michael Jordan and Aaron Rodgers mention chiropractic as part of their health routines to play their best. So… can chiropractic benefit athletes?
You bet it can. One reason anyone participating in athletics can benefit from chiropractic care is that, well, being in sports is hard on the body. From regular practices to intense games, sports put repetitive strain on the body. If you’ve ever heard me talk then you know that I often say repetitive strain is the most common cause of misaligned spinal vertebrae that cause pain, reduced nerve flow and overall decreased health.
Also, I’ve lost count of how many student athletes I’ve treated after an injury. Bad falls, rough hit, landing awkwardly and more. Without a doubt, receiving chiropractic care helps athletes get back in the game much more quickly.
So long story short, anyone participating in sports from intramural leagues to middle school and high school sports all the way to the pros can benefit from regular chiropractic care. In fact, I recommend in-season athletes get adjusted once per week! It helps not only heal injuries once they occur but also can help prevent injuries, increase performance and of course promote overall good health!
