Migraine headaches can ruin an entire day or even a whole week. Even worse, they can be a chronic condition that can occur several times a month. While all situations involving migraine headaches are different one thing is certain: they suck.
Most often medication is the treatment of choice for migraines in the medical world, yet I can tell you from personal experience this is effective in a very small number of cases and most of the time just numbs the worst of the pain while some symptoms continue despite medication.
So what’s person with migraines to do? Well, for starters see their chiropractor. In many cases misaligned spinal bones in the neck pinch the nerves exiting the spinal cord and cause inflammation, pain and tightness in the neck and head muscles. This is like pouring gas on a dry pile of logs and the next time a big stressor like being ill, problems in a relationship or some other emotional stress comes along BOOM! The migraine returns.
Adjusting the spine relieves pressure on the nerves and allow the muscles in the neck and head to heal. This reduces the overall stress on the system and allows a person to be more resilient to stress and overall have fewer episodes of headaches. It is not uncommon for people under chiropractic care to see a massive reduction in headaches within 3-4 weeks of receiving chiropractic care.
Chiropractic adjustments are safe, gentle and don’t come loaded with side effects of medication (which are really just effects of the medicine by the way). People frequently notice improvement after just a few visits and in some cases can be headache free within a month or so.
If you or someone you love is having migraines, try chiropractic. Chances are excellent it will help and you will get the other benefits of chiropractic adjustments as well including better overall health, muscle and organ function and of course less pain.
