Be honest, how often do you feel tired, down or maybe just plain exhausted? While there are many factors determining our energy levels there are 2 key factors that are absolutely non-negotiable if you want to have more energy. Making these 2 things a priority will go a long ways towards determining wether or not you have energy!
1) Sleep- you NEED 7-9 hours of sleep a night to have good energy. Sure you can maybe get by occasionally with less but the cold, hard fact is that when we sleep we are regenerating tissues, replenishing hormones and balancing out numerous bodily functions. If you aren’t getting enough sleep you will not have good energy. Make this a priority each night.
2) Daily Exercise- you need to use energy to make energy. Our mitochondria make our energy. If they aren’t being used regularly they stop working effectively. It’s yet another example of the “Use it or lose it” principle. Exercise also has dramatic stress lowering effects and nothing helps get deeper, better sleep than tired muscles. It doesn’t have to be a ton of exercise either. A brisk 30 minute walk, a 15 minutes HIIT workout, some weight training or even a nice bike ride. Anything that gets the blood pumping and creates a little sweat will do!
